Napa Valley, California
Known for many award-winning wineries, scenic landscapes, and charming towns, Napa Valley is a must-visit destination for wine lovers. This unique experience offers breathtaking views of the vineyards and rolling hills. There’s something for everyone whether you just want to sip wines, stroll through the quaint downtown Napa streets, enjoy the scenery, appreciate the art scene, or experience an outdoor adventure.
There are many popular Napa Valley events including the annual Napa Valley Film Festival and the Napa Valley Harvest Festival. Whatever time of year or reason you visit Napa, there are many ways to experience the local culture among many charming small towns.
Villa-Like Setting at Embassy Suites by Hilton Napa Valley
Winery hopping was not part of our original itinerary as we were attending a wedding in San Francisco with a group of eight friends, but it sure made an exciting extra stop on our western adventure. To give you a better idea of its geographical location, Napa Valley is one hour north of San Francisco and Oakland, and one hour West of Sacramento.
When searching for accommodations in Napa Valley, California area, the look of the Embassy Suites by Hilton Napa Valley caught our attention. It looks a bit like a European villa set among acres of lush greenery, the ideal setting for a trip to wine country. All the couples that we were traveling with unanimously agreed that this would make the ideal hotel to stay. And we made the right “last minute” decision to add Napa to our travel itinerary.
Embassy Suites by Hilton Napa Valley is within walking distance of historic downtown Napa but the fact that it sits close to Highway 29, made it the right selection to visit as many of the area wineries as possible in a short 3-day visit. Napa is one of the world’s best wine-growing regions, with hundreds of wineries set amidst what looks like never-ending rolling hills of grapes.
The Best of Hilton Amenities With Added Napa Ambiance
Imagine a day of visiting wineries, learning about the precise wine-making process while sipping different varieties. Then, returning to Embassy Suites by Hilton Napa Valley to sit back and relax or take a sunset stroll among the hotel’s palm trees, iconic California redwoods and rose gardens, with a few cameo appearances of the area wildlife.
In addition to the pristine landscaped grounds, Embassy Suites by Hilton Napa Valley offers guests a complimentary hot and cold breakfast, a complimentary evening reception offering a variety of beer, wine, and spirits with light appetizers, and an outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is set in a quiet courtyard.
There are a few places to get food and drinks at Embassy Suites by Hilton Napa. Whether you select food from Grille 29 Restaurant & Lounge, the lobby lounge wine bar, or get in-suite dining, the onsite chef prepares the most delicious food. You can also enjoy an airy outdoor setting at the Poolside Grille most evenings.
One note is that there is no fitness center on site, but guests have access to a fitness center just a short drive away. Self-parking is $25.00 per day and the hotel is pet friendly with a fee.
And while you can expect the best of Hilton amenities, there’s something extra special about this hotel. I can’t stress enough how the Embassy Suites in Napa does not look like a typical chain hotel but instead emulates the Napa Valley vibe with a villa-like facade.
Recently Renovated Spacious Suites
The new, modern rooms at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Napa Valley make it feel like a high end Napa Valley resort with everything to make a stay more comfortable. All brightly lit guest rooms are spacious and freshly renovated suites with separate living rooms, wet bars, mini-fridges, and microwaves. The Nespresso maker and electric tea kettle were a welcome surprise and we loved the location of light switches right on the bed frame’s headboard. Making it so easy to switch the lights on and off are the little extras that we appreciate at hotels.
Even more impressive was the large, modern bathroom where you can tell that there was much attention to details considered during the recent renovation. Not only was there a separated area for the toilet, but it is also a Smart, Japanese style toilet! The make-up mirror with LED lights was a welcome feature as well.
The two-room luxury suite offered a very comfortable king size bed, separate living area with a sofa and chair, free premium WI-FI, large 55 inch televisions, and a stunning panoramic vineyard view from a private terrace.

I must highlight the Napa Valley Wine Train. Offering wine tastings with lunch was a real treat and highly recommended. This vintage train offers a comfortable, entertaining ride through Napa Valley’s vineyards, a wonderful way to combine sightseeing with fine dining. Consider visiting Robert Mondavi Winery for a guided tour and tasting of their renowned wines. Castello di Amorosa is a stunning castle winery.
In addition to wine tasting in Napa, you’ll also enjoy delicious food and amazing experiences. You can go picnicking at a winery, stomp grapes with your bare feet, ride in a hot air balloon, and so much more. I also want to recommend visiting the DiRosa Center For Contemporary Art that offers 1,600 pieces of art, 217-acre property, outdoor sculpture garden, olive grove, and a 35-acre lake.

Other Napa Valley highlights to consider are to explore wine caves at Jarvis State Winery, shop at boutique shops or at the Napa Premium Outlets, browse art galleries and the Napa Valley Museum in Yountville to experience the region’s history, culture, and wine-making process, or simply enjoy a leisurely walk through the picturesque Napa streets.

A Beautiful Napa, California Visit With Good Friends and Good Wine
Nothing pairs better with good friends than good wine and our visit to Napa was filled with memories that will last a lifetime. I am so glad that we decided to head north just one hour to Napa’s wine country. I don’t consider myself a wine connoisseur, but – wow – I learned so much from each vineyard that we visited. And it was much more than just wine tasting as a lot of factors go into making a successful, delicious wine. Aside from the wine, the Napa scenery was my favorite part of wine country. I couldn’t get enough of the breathtaking sights … acres and acres of rolling hills filled with rows of grape vines, picturesque sunsets, and the tallest California Redwood trees.
Equally as picturesque were the views around the Embassy Suites by Hilton Napa Valley. Our accommodations were lovely inside and outside. The scenery was something out of a movie setting, lush green and a villa-style facade. Starting each morning with a complimentary, chef-prepared breakfast, was a welcoming start to a day of exploring Napa. The complimentary evening reception with drinks and snacks was a fun way to meet our friends after a much-needed afternoon/pre-dinner nap. Later in the evening, the courtyard area with large firepit was such an inviting place for our friends and I to relax and enjoy each other’s company.
We kept remarking how the Embassy Suites staff were so helpful and very friendly throughout our stay. The property was meticulously clean thanks to a remarkable housekeeping team. The spacious suite was comfortable and the stylish furnishings provided ample relaxation. The suite’s contemporary amenities were much appreciated, especially the delicious coffee we made with the Nespresso coffee maker (an appliance we are now considering buying for our home.)
The location of the hotel was nearby to many attractions and we loved walking as a group to downtown Napa. It was just far enough outside the touristy City Center to offer a quiet, serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and sleeping.
The moral of this Napa visit is that sometimes last-minute detours on your travel itinerary turn out to be the most “meant to be” experiences. Instead of 3 days sightseeing in San Francisco, an easy one-hour drive to Napa turned out to be a spectacular surprise.
