Visiting Biloxi, Mississippi For the First Time
We had never had the opportunity to visit Biloxi, Mississippi but we had heard nice things about the city. So, when some of our longtime friends set up a mini friends’ reunion in Biloxi, we excitedly accepted the invite. Biloxi, Mississippi, is a Gulf Coast town featuring live music shows, casinos, museums, galleries, public art, fresh local seafood, coastal activities, the beach, and so much more. It’s like a Las Vegas experience except located on the Gulf Coast with Southern hospitality and a rich history. Gambling aside, there are plenty of things to do in Biloxi.
“Rock n’ Roll” Theme at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Conveniently located on Beach Boulevard, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi offers easy access to the Gulf Coast attractions, beach, restaurants, shops, historical highlights, and museums. The hotel is just a short drive from the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport. Also, a short drive away from the hotel is the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center, Jefferson Davis Presidential Library, Keesler Air Force Base, and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. To put the location of Biloxi in perspective, Mobile, Alabama is a 55-minute drive from the hotel and New Orleans, Louisiana is a 90-minute drive from the hotel.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Hard Rock Hotel chain, it’s the hotel that displays a HUGE suspended guitar out front of the hotel. That guitar “sets the stage” for the “rock” theme of this casino resort, as the hotel’s sign outside also states, “Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends.”

It’s chock full of music memorabilia encased in glass or illuminated in bright neon colors. The newer Platinum Tower was recommended to us as opposed to the older Royal Tower. The room was spacious, colorful, and comfortable with plush bedding. The tower (as is most of the hotel) tends to be a bit noisy, as the hotel and casino are bustling on weekends.

Live Music/Entertainment/Headliners
The nightlife at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi is always hopping so there’s no shortage of exciting activities for visitors. That’s no surprise since Biloxi is Gulf Coast’s place for popular musical talent. The Hard Rock Live Biloxi concert hall features an impressive lineup of showstopping headliners and musical performances by talented bands and singing talent. The Hard Rock Live Biloxi is located just off the casino floor and seats more than 1,500 fans. Before you make your reservations, be sure to check the hotel’s live entertainment calendar to see who is performing during your stay.
In addition to the Hard Rock Live Biloxi, you can also pay a visit to the Hard Rock Center Bar that features live music. The Road House 777 is the place to go to hear country music and play pool with fellow guests. During football season, stop in at the Thursday night Football Watch Party with a live DJ and plenty of drink specials.
We had a great 2-night stay …
It was just enough time to appreciate the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi and the surrounding Biloxi area. The property was clean and there were plenty of places for us to have a bite to eat. We appreciated the free WI-FI and free parking … plus, there was no hefty resort fee. The room was nice with modern décor and amenities, along with the most comfortable bed. The hotel staff that we interacted with were all friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
The “rock” aspect of the hotel’s theme gave us a lot to look at throughout the hotel. So, that added a fun, historical feel to the surroundings. We spent a lot of time just looking at each piece of music history including shirts, jackets, and concert outfits worn by famous musicians, along with guitars, vinyl records, and so much more. The casino was vibrant and hopping day and night with so many fun slot machines and table games. We enjoyed a few musical performances that weekend as well.
I would love to stay there again. But there are so many accommodations in the Biloxi area, I would enjoy seeing what other “themed” hotels may be offered in the same location.
